On a clear night, under a full moon, jazz was introduced to oriental and together created a melody that forced everyone to get up and dance! The Beirut Jazz Festival is an event that has been taking place every year, and some of us assume that it’s just not as cool as Red Hot Chili Pepper or as legendary as Aznavour. Fortunately, Arturo proved us wrong last night, by mixing his classical jazz rhythms with the sound of Rony Barrak’s derbake that we have grown accustomed to hear in Lebanon. A melancholy of melodies varying from piano to 3oud, kept the crowd on their feet, wondering what was going to be played next. Constant cheering and applauding were heard by the end of the show, which motivated Arturo to come back for one more surprise performance that made us fall in love with a new kind of jazz! Tonight, yet another jazz musician will be playing at the Souks… We wonder what Charlie Winston has prepared for us!
